Hand Rendered Letters Now that we have both selected the grid we prefer the most and which is going to be the easiest to create an entire typeface on so that it is consistent throughout so it all works together as a whole.

Below are all the hand rendered drawings for each letter of the typeface. Sam and I work side by side throughout this entire process which allowed us to constantly evaluate and critique as we worked. This worked well as we initially didn't have any guidelines to work to but by figuring out what features we liked and didn't like it enabled us to create guidelines as we went so that we had an idea what each letter should look like according to the grid.

After we had drawn out several variations of each letter we sat down and voted which one we preferred and why, through this selection process we had to bear in mind consistency and how it would all work together in context. The ones we were happiest with have been marked with a small cross next to them.

Next Sam will digitise the typeface on Illustrator whilst I create the layout for the specimen book and research how to use Fontographer so that we can create a fully functioning typeface.
