Blaithin Carline Textiles

Brief
To create a portfolio website for a third year printed textiles student, they require links to their Pinterest, Instagram and Linkedin. The website should focus on the imagery because the patterns are the focal point with the text playing a supporting role. The website needs to clean and simple, that is easy to navigate and return to the home/index page

Response
I've decided to create a cargo collective as it is the easiest thing for her to be able to upload her own images onto and it will still keep its structure and look the same whether her or I upload the content. Cargo collective also allows you to create a custom website based on a simple already pre existing foundation through editing the CSS.

Edited Custom Template
There wasn't much development involved in the creation of this portfolio website, everything was pretty much already done for me. All that was required of me was to edit the colour of the text, the fonts, add links, the image size and the layout of the images. The images were already in a grid but a lot smaller meaning it was 4 wide as opposed to 2 wide.

Problem
There has been issues with communications and the client hasn't been getting back to me with the images and text needed to finish the website so I have taken it upon myself to create the basic website template for her so if and when she does decide to get all of her imagery and text together she can input it herself easily without any fuss.

CSS development

She wanted a logo creating but her understanding of logo and mine was completely different, she simply wanted her name in text in the top left hand corner.

Evaluation
For my first time using cargo-collective I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to create complex functional portfolios. The brief itself was very simple, it didn't stretch me or take up too much of my time, especially seen as I only used placeholder text and images. The lack of communication was often stressful though and did lead me to regret taking on this brief for free as a favour because she took advantage and was in no rush or hurry to collect all the information for the sight.
