OUGD404 DESIGN PRINCIPLES- Who are you?

Take the principle of visual dynamic that represents verbal dynamic; volume, pace, emphasis... What else can be added? Accents

How do you visually represent an accent using 'Who are you?' Weight, scale, choice of fonts...

The task is to produce 10 printed out responses of;

  • Geordie
  • Welsh
  • Yorkshire
  • Irish
  • Pirate
  • French
  • Essex
  • Scouse
  • Jamaican
  • Russian
  • Australian
Task

Australian-
 Essex-
 Geordie-
 French-
 Irish-

 Russian-
 Pirate-
 Jamaican-

 Scouse-
 Welsh-
 Yorkshire-
I found this task pretty difficult to do, the different country ones were pretty simple because they generally have a stereotypical font, for example Russian is a square, very boxy font similar to those on Russian propaganda. Pirate is very rustic and pirates of the Caribbean aesthetic. But Geordie and Scouse were very difficult because I had to listen to the way they pronounced their words and where they put emphasis as opposed to just finding a font that visually represented a stereotype or aesthetic.
