Initially the task was to find five default fonts that already existed on the computer when we first bought it. With these five fonts we then passed it on to our partner who must then identify them using www.identifont.com. Indentifont is similar to 20 questions, you have to complete a series of questions based on appearance that then narrows it down to either the exact font or a possibility of a couple. The software guessed 4 of my partners and the reason it didn't guess the fifth was because he had downloaded it off a website, therefore the program did not recognise his font.
We were then asked to select on of these five fonts and research in depth so that we can come back to the next session with knowledge about the background, costs etc... I decided to choose Frys Baskerville because of the interesting history behind it. All that information can be found on my DESIGN CONTEXT BLOG.
This weeks session saw us come back together as a group to collate all our fonts and then to discuss what categories they belonged to based on the weights of each font;
